Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply if my job offer is in the PEI tourism sector at a hotel?

If the position is in NOC TEER 4 and relates to tourism (hotel services, food and beverage, etc.), the Critical Workers sub-category may be applicable. Confirm the exact NOC of your role — a front desk supervisor (TEER 3) would qualify for Skilled Workers; a room attendant (TEER 4) would qualify for Critical Workers if PEI includes that role in the eligible Critical Worker occupations list.

Are the 2 years of work experience required to be in PEI specifically?

No. The 2-year work experience requirement can be from anywhere in the world — it does not need to be PEI experience. The experience must be in an occupation closely related to the PEI job offer.

How long does the full process take from EOI submission to landing in PEI?

EOI submission to invitation timing varies by draw frequency. Once invited: 6–8 months provincial + 13 months federal base PNP = approximately 19–21 months from invitation to PR. Using the EE-linked federal route reduces federal processing to ~7 months.

Can the Critical Workers sub-category lead to Express Entry-linked PR?

The Critical Workers sub-category is not linked to Express Entry (TEER 4 occupations do not qualify for most EE streams). Nominees under this sub-category apply through the base PNP federal stream only.

What if I lose my PEI job offer after I am invited to apply?

The job offer is a condition of your application — losing it after receiving an invitation but before submitting your application will affect your eligibility. You must notify PEI and may need to withdraw your application. A new EOI with a new employer would be required.
