Next Express Entry Draw in November 2026: New CRS Rules and What Candidates Should Do

If you are waiting for the next Express Entry draw in November 2026, the most important development is the change to how Canada awards points for Canadian work experience and qualifying job offers.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced the changes on October 16, with an effective date of November 3, 2026. The changes introduce a Labour Market Integration factor and give greater weight to eligible work experience and job offers in designated high-wage occupations. Read the IRCC announcement.

When Is the Next Express Entry Draw?
IRCC’s guidance says the system is recalculating points in existing profiles. The process could take up to two weeks, and invitation rounds are paused during recalculation. Rounds will restart when the process is complete. IRCC has not confirmed a date for the next draw in the guidance reviewed. Check IRCC’s current score guidance.
Treat specific dates circulating online as forecasts unless IRCC confirms them. A projected date should not determine whether you leave a job, purchase services or make another major immigration decision. Instead, use the time to review your profile and prepare your documents.
What Changed in Express Entry on November 3, 2026?
The Labour Market Integration factor compares two scoring routes:
- Eligible Canadian work experience, including applicable high-wage experience points.
- A qualifying job offer in an eligible high-wage occupation.
IRCC applies the route that produces the higher result. The two routes are not added together. The maximum factor is 150 points without an accompanying spouse or common-law partner and 140 points with one. These are factor limits, not an automatic bonus for every candidate. IRCC backgrounder.
How Do High-Wage Occupation Points Work?
IRCC’s framework identifies three wage levels:
- At least twice the benchmark: 70 additional points for qualifying Canadian experience, or 100 points for a qualifying offer.
- At least 1.5 times but below twice the benchmark: 40 experience points, or 70 offer points.
- At least 1.3 times but below 1.5 times the benchmark: 20 experience points, or 50 offer points.
High-wage experience points require at least 12 months of qualifying Canadian experience. Existing duration-based Canadian work-experience points remain part of the calculation, subject to the applicable rules and factor limits. Review IRCC’s detailed changes.
For example, a candidate without an accompanying spouse who qualifies for 80 duration points and 70 high-wage experience points reaches 150 under the experience route. A separate 100-point qualifying offer would not increase that factor to 250.

Does a High Salary Automatically Qualify You?
No. IRCC identifies high-wage occupations using National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes and national occupational wage data, rather than the individual applicant’s salary alone. The current list uses three wage levels and is based on 2023–2025 data. View IRCC’s high-wage occupation list.
Review your actual duties and the applicable NOC before claiming points. A broad job title alone is not enough. Compare your employment letter, dates and hours, pay records, NOC description and the occupation list. The information in your profile should be consistent with the evidence you can provide.
Does an Express Entry Job Offer Still Need an LMIA?
Under IRCC’s updated guidance, an offer does not need an LMIA to qualify under the revised Express Entry assessment. Having an LMIA does not provide extra CRS points or priority. However, IRCC still assesses whether the offer is genuine, including the employer’s business activity and ability to meet its terms. IRCC job-offer requirements.
If your profile still asks for LMIA information, follow IRCC’s current instructions for your circumstances. Do not invent an LMIA number or treat a technical entry as proof that an LMIA was approved.
Will CRS Cutoffs Increase After the Pause?
A change in scores may affect competition, but no particular cutoff can be established in advance. The next cutoff also depends on the type of round, the number of invitations and the eligible candidates in that round. General, program-specific and category-based rounds do not select from identical groups. How invitation rounds work.
Use past draw results for context, not as a promise of future selection. A precise-looking prediction is still a prediction.
What Should Express Entry Candidates Do Now?
- Review the information behind your score. Check work dates, hours, duties, NOC selection and the documents supporting each claim.
- Check your job offer. IRCC directs candidates whose valid offer is missing from their profile to update it. Current IRCC guidance.
- Separate eligibility from ranking. A promising points estimate does not replace an assessment of the underlying program requirements.
- Prepare for different outcomes. Consider your options if your score rises, stays similar or remains below a future cutoff.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the next Express Entry draw date confirmed?
The IRCC guidance reviewed does not specify a date. It says rounds will resume after recalculation is complete.
Can I combine job-offer points with the Canadian-experience route?
No. IRCC compares the two routes and applies the higher result within the Labour Market Integration factor.
Will a higher CRS score guarantee an invitation?
No. Selection depends on the rules and cutoff of the particular invitation round.
Should I rely on an online CRS calculator?
Use calculators as estimates and verify the answers behind the result. IRCC says its calculator is for general guidance; where there is a discrepancy, the Express Entry system result governs. IRCC calculator.
