Alberta AAIP Draws: 425 Invitations in 10 Days, Only 495 Spaces Left for 2026

Alberta has been moving fast. Between October 23 and November 2, 2026, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) held five draws and issued 425 invitations — and with only 495 of its 6,603 nomination spaces left for 2026, the year is nearly out of room. Here is what happened, who got invited, and what it means if Alberta is your plan.

Only 495 spaces left — what the totals say
Alberta’s 2026 picture, per the official processing page (updated November 4, 2026):
- 2026 nomination allocation: 6,603
- Nominations issued so far: 6,108
- Spaces remaining: 495
- Applications still to be processed: 756
More applications are waiting (756) than spaces remain (495) — not everyone in the queue will get a nomination this year. Alberta also warns that allocations are subject to change without notice and can be redistributed between streams at any time.

One relief valve exists: up to 10,000 extra federal spaces are available for practice-ready physicians and Francophones, and nominations under that initiative do not count against Alberta’s 6,603. So far Alberta has issued 50 physician and 12 Francophone nominations that way.
The competition behind the draws
Alberta’s expression-of-interest pool holds 32,211 candidates. The largest pools: Alberta Opportunity (20,603), Alberta Express Entry priority sectors (4,581), Tourism and Hospitality (2,846), Accelerated Tech (1,883), Rural Renewal (1,283), and Health Care (976). With 425 invitations against a pool that size, each draw is a narrow door.
Score matters, but Alberta says the EOI score is not the only factor — it weighs a range of factors in each expression of interest against provincial priorities. And draws are not on a fixed schedule; they happen as needed, when sector needs and provincial priorities call for them.
What to do next
- If you already have an Alberta EOI in the pool, keep it current — a stale profile is an easy miss.
- If you work in a priority sector — health care, technology, construction, manufacturing, aviation, agriculture, or a Rural Renewal designated community — your odds are better than the pool average suggests. Alberta prioritizes these in 2026.
- If you have not entered the pool yet, enter now. Draws happen without a schedule, and the remaining 495 spaces will go fast.
- If Alberta looks full, check the parallel federal route — the extra federal spaces for physicians and Francophones sit outside the provincial cap.
Frequently asked questions
How many AAIP spaces are left for 2026?
495 of 6,603, per Alberta’s official processing page (updated November 4, 2026). 6,108 nominations have been issued.
What was the lowest score in this round?
50 — the October 29 Dedicated Health Care Pathway (non-Express Entry) draw. Rural Renewal invited at 51 twice.
Are more AAIP draws coming in 2026?
Alberta does not publish a schedule — draws happen as needed. With 495 spaces left, further draws are possible, but the year is nearly out of room.
Do the 495 spaces include the federal physician and Francophone spaces?
No. Up to 10,000 federal spaces for practice-ready physicians and Francophones sit outside Alberta’s 6,603 allocation.
I have an EOI in the pool — what should I do?
Keep it updated and watch for draws. Score is not the only factor, but a current, complete EOI is the baseline.
